Hudson River Park’s BIG CITY FISHING – Fish For Free

Of course you can fish in New York City, the five boroughs are surrounded by water (eating the fish is another story).

Each year, Hudson River Park has its BIG CITY FISHING event where you can learn to fish for FREE.  Everything you need will be provided including rods, reels and bait.  You will also learn about the local ecology and the species of fish that inhabit the Hudson River.

Its a great event for both adults and kids giving us city dwellers a chance to enjoy nature.  Here are the dates and times for the event:

Sundays, 1–5pm on 6.7–9.27 on Pier 25 at N. Moore St.fishing_rod

Sundays, 1–5pm on 7.5–8.23 on Pier 46 at Charles St.

Mondays, 5-7:30PM on 7.6–8.24 on Pier 25 at N. Moore St.

Tuesdays, 1-4PM 7.7–8.25 on Pier 84 at W.44th St.

Thursdays, 1-4PM 7.9–8.27 on Pier 84 at W.44th St.

Eating fish from the waters surrounding NYC have some heath issues attached to it, so this event is strictly catch and release. Also, arrive early because the free lessons are strictly first come, first served.

Enjoy!!
