NYC City Council Proposing a Helicopter Tour Ban – Book Yours While You Can.

Taking a tour of New York City from the air is an awesome experience.  You get a birds eye view of many of the cities most famous skyscrapers, bridges, the Statue of Liberty and much more. However, If you’re planning to visit New York City in the near future and taking a helicopter tour is part of your plan, you may want to book your tour now.

According to a Daily News article, Councilman Carlos Menchaca (D-Brooklyn) is drafting a bill that will ban helicopter tours, stating that the noise from the 40,000 helicopter tour flights a year is disturbing city residents.  40,000 flights?  Now that’s a lot of chopper noise.big-apple-helicopter-tour-of-new-york-in-new-york-city-138107

The noise aside, helicopter tours are really fun and exciting and I highly recommend them, if your not afraid of flying that is.

The Daily News article suggests the ban is imminent, so here are a few examples of tours that are currently available:

Big Apple Helicopter Tour of New York – See New York’s famous landmarks from the air on an exhilarating 15-minute helicopter tour.

Complete New York, New York Helicopter Tour – Take the ultimate helicopter tour over New York! This 20-minute aerial tour covers all five Boroughs.

Manhattan Sky Tour: New York Helicopter Flight – See the entire City of New York on a comprehensive 25-minute helicopter tour of the Big Apple!

Private Tour: Manhattan Helicopter Tour – Celebrate your visit to New York City with a private helicopter flight over Manhattan. What could be more romantic than a personalized 20-minute flight over NYC?

Hopefully, there will be some sort of concession (altered flight routes or some type of noise dampening) that the City Council and the New Yorkers being disturbed by whirlybird sounds, will find acceptable so the helicopter tour industry can continue to thrive in New York City.

Happy Traveling
