Phantom of the Opera is probably the first musical you'll think of when you think about the quintessential Broadway Musical, and there's several reasons why.

For one thing, Phantom is the longest continuously running show on Broadway. Astonishingly, it's first performance took place way back on January 26, 1988 and it has enjoyed packed houses ever since.

The score is incredible, with songs you won't soon forget like "The Music of the Night" and "All I ask of You". And of course the cast is phenomenal with soaring voices that have caused generations of theatre goers to gain an appreciation for opera like they never had before.

The one thing you will remember if nothing else about Phantom of the Opera is the staging. The sets are amazing to behold and nothing beats the moving chandelier.

Having seen Phantom of the Opera the Movie will in no way cause you to not enjoy the Broadway show, so don't hesitate to see it.

This is one of my favorite musicals and an excellent choice for the first time theatre goer.

Enjoy!
